Ultrasuede® Collaborates with Subaru at SEMA

Toray Ultrasuede (America),
Inc. (TUA), collaborates with key partner Subaru of America, Inc.,
and supplier partners Harmon/Kardon, Recaro Seating, Specialized
Vehicles, BFGoodrich Tires, Brembo, HRE Performance Wheels, and JAC
Products for the introduction of the new Subaru “Legacy GTk” concept
wagon at the 2009 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA)
Show in Las Vegas.

The unique partnership pulled together by Mr. Peter Tenn of Subaru, combines the luxury and durability of EcoDesign™ Ultrasuede® with the technology and craftsmanship of Harman sound systems, Recaro advanced seating design and the products of the other supplier partners, assembled with the unparalleled mastery of SVI bringing this together in a finished automobile, the new Subaru Legacy GTk.
The new Subaru Legacy GTk features a dramatic interior of Ultrasuede® in various applications including seating, overhead systems and IP gauge cover, merged with Harman audio systems and a cargo area encased in the hearty, but beautiful Ultrasuede®.
The new Subaru Legacy GTk, designed for the outdoor enthusiasts
utilizes the latest recycling technology from Toray Industries, lives
up to the eco-friendly expectations that Subaru has become accustomed
to with its customers. This new technology uses post industrial waste
from its own PET film operations. This internal recycling strategy
allows Ultrasuede® EcoDesign™ products
to achieve average reduction of both CO² emissions and energy
consumption of greater than 80%.
TUA, a key supplier of luxury performance automotive interior furnishings, continues to develop new environmentally responsible products, using Toray technology, for the automotive market.
